Because having a good working relationship with other people allows for jobs to be completed quicker. It is also a highly competitive industry so therefore having people that like you due to your etiquette is more likely to get you future jobs working with the same people.

by keeping morale high in order for others to complete their jobs to the best of their ability. By being polite people are more likely to want to impress you by doing their best work.
